PASCHAL MCCARTHY

Paschal McCarthy is an alum of both NUIG and London Institute of Directors and holds an expansive academic portfolio including an undergraduate in science, an MBA in Business Administration and a Diploma in Corporate Governance and Chartered Directorship.  A trained micro-biologist, director, managing director and in more recent years, Independent Non-Executive Director, Paschal has been committed to the development and overall improvement of multi-level operations across a multitude of pharmaceutical, environmental and energy infrastructures. He is dedicated to complying with all relevant regulations, particularly those of an environmentally sustainable capacity.

Having joined Baxter Healthcare in 1981, Paschal has since occupied Directorial positions across a myriad of healthcare conglomerates. This has included engaging with senior and directorial positions within companies of accolade including Schering Plough, Nycomed Ireland, Amersham Health and, most recently, General Electric Healthcare (GEHC). With over 650 employees, an export base of over 85 countries and revenues exceeding €750 million, Paschal has cultivated the export landscape of GEHC’s Irish base exponentially over the course of 25 years. Having grown the company’s Irish employee base from 6 to 650 since 1992 alone, Paschal’s influence guided and ultimately rebranded the now global enterprise within the Pharmaceutical industry in Ireland. He attributes such success to his inate ability to engage with staff and fellow employees on a personal level and, through doing so, creating an inclusive work environment where open communication serves to benefit the company trajectory.

Paschal has aided companies of all sizes in their restructuring process amidst periods of growth and downsizing. He has a strong proven capability in both leading and managing businesses of all sizes and in doing so, building robust and tenacious workforces suitably aligned to any given company culture. Paschal’s focus and personal investment in all professional project’s centres on dedicating one-on-one time to those seeking and, in doing so, extracting from them the best of their capabilities and expertise. His ability to improve the overall vision and objectives of a company through identifying individual strengths and their long-term impact has helped him in maintaining a stellar reputation as an inclusive and encouraging thought leader. With a pharmaceutical centred domain expertise honed over the last 38 years, Paschal is a highly skilled and equally adaptable mentor who is committed to advocating workplace integrity through collaborative positioning.
